OUR FREE TALKS

Berwick and Borders Therapies offer free talks on a variety of psychotherapy topics.  These half hour talks are aimed at breaking down the many myths and false perceptions which surround our profession.  Enlightening and educating for some, entertaining for others!

The talks help remove the stigma and concerns held by many on the idea of receiving treatment and shines a light on the serious - and not so serious - aspects of therapy.

If you are a commitee member of a village/church hall, association, club, Community Centre, British Legion etc or perhaps run a group who might be interested or even simply just curious about our talks, please do not hesitate to contact us

  • Living with anxiety

Everyone experiences anxiety at some time in their life.  This talk aims at

spotting the symptomatic signs, discovering and understanding the causes

and offers coping strategies and techniques to help counter the effects of

anxiety.

  •  Can therapy benefit older people?

This talk reasons why "talking therapies" are seriously undervalued by both

older people and by most therapy professionals.  It offers an explanation of

the positive effects achieved when dealing with the specific problems

encountered by growing older.

  • Being a parent can drive you mad!

How often this phrase is heard and yet how rare genuine understanding help is offered.

The emotional and mental affects upon parents can be a roller coaster of both delight

and despair.  This talk deals with the pressures and demands placed upon parents trying to do

the best for their children, often at the cost of their own quality of life and relationships.

  • Are past lives real?

"Past lives" have been a recognised phenomena of hypnosis for many years.  With so much apparent

evidence from many respected psychologists the subject cannot be easily disregarded.  There are strong believers

and non-believers but this talk asks one simple question (with explanation on both sides of the debate) are past lives real?

  • Eating disorders are all in the mind

Both extreme overeating or drastic under-eating are usually symptoms of overlooked emotional or mental issues

which have not been fully addressed.  This talk helps to expose the hidden realities of repressed memories and

endeavors to offer practical advice to sufferers.

  • Rural isolation (a dream or a nightmare?)

This talk highlights both the mental benefits and drawbacks of "country living".  The beauty of the scenery is often

hiding the misery of loneliness and isolation felt by so many in our communities.  From farming to single living, from youth unemployment to deprived old age, feeling alone and disconnected are often the major causes of depression or suicide.

Help support us supporting others.

Talks we offer

Obviously costs are incurred by us in offering therapy to our community.
At present we receive no financial assistance from the Government or NHS and so rely solely upon the generosity of local benefactors to enable us to provide this unique and worthwhile service..
Our standard fee includes an amount which helps us provide therapy for those who find themselves in financial difficulty.  This means that every full paying client can feel assured that they are not only improving their own life, but through our Client Support Scheme, are helping another as well.
We at Berwick and Borders Therapies are always very grateful for every donation and contribution received and if you feel you would like to help us too please let us know!
