What happens in therapy?
1 in 4 people in the UK
will experience a mental health problem each year.
HOW CONFIDENTIAL IS THERAPY?

At Berwick and Borders Therapies all our therapists are bound to a strict code of ethics.  No therapist is permitted to reveal anything discussed in the therapy session with ANYONE without your permission.  This includes your family, friends, work colleagues or even your doctor.
The only exception to this rule is if the therapist genuinely believes there is a real and imminent danger of harm to either yourself or to someone else.

Your first visit will most likely be a Mental health and Emotional well-being assessment or a personal initial consultation.  In either case they are both completely FREE and can last up to 1 hour, which will give you the opportunity to explain your current difficulties and for you to ask the therapist questions.  The therapist will be aware you may be unsure or nervous but will be understanding at all times.  You will be listened to and will be asked questions in order to discover more about you and to build a clearer picture about your symptoms and possible causes.
If you decide you would like to proceed with a course of therapy, an appointment will be made for you.  During every session of therapy you will be encouraged to speak freely and openly about your worries, doubts or fears. Your input, thoughts and views will be essential to gain the maximum benefit from every session you attend.

Rural communities
can suffer more mental health problems than urban communities.
