AVAILABLE IN-PERSON or ONLINE
What happens in therapy?
IN-PERSON OR ONLINE
1 in 4 people in the UK
will experience a mental health problem each year.
We offer our services online or in-person, the choice is yours.
The option of online means you receive the therapy you need without leaving home and appointments can be made throughout the day including evenings. You may choose online therapy for convenience, as there are no travelling time or costs, no distance problems or perhaps you may feel more relaxed in your own surroundings.
To receive therapy online you will need an email address for your therapist to send you an invitation to a Zoom meeting. Your arranged session will have been agreed beforehand with your therapist and upon receiving the invitation you simply follow the instructions shown on your device.
It is important that you find a quiet suitable place where you will not be interrupted for at least 1 hour. Payment for your session will be required within 48 hours of the session ending.
If you prefer in-person therapy then your sessions will take place at our comfortable, confidential office at Cornhill-on-Tweed, Northumberland.
To make an appointment or for more details please contact us by email or telephone.
HOW CONFIDENTIAL IS THERAPY?
At Berwick and Borders Therapies all our therapists are bound to a strict code of ethics. No therapist is permitted to reveal anything discussed in the therapy session with ANYONE without your permission. This includes your family, friends, work colleagues or even your doctor.
The only exception to this rule is if the therapist genuinely believes there is a real and imminent danger of harm to either yourself or to someone else.
Your first visit either in-person or online will be an initial consultation which is completely FREE and can last up to 1 hour. This will allow you the opportunity to explain your current difficulties and for you to ask the therapist questions. The therapist will be aware you may be unsure or nervous but will be understanding at all times. You will be listened to and will be asked questions in order to discover more about you and to build a clearer picture about your symptoms and possible causes.
If you decide you would like to proceed with a course of therapy, an appointment will be made for you. During every session of therapy you will be encouraged to speak freely and openly about your worries, doubts or fears. Your input, thoughts and views will be essential to gain the maximum benefit from every session you attend.
Rural communities
can suffer more mental health problems than urban communities.
